Summer Style: Dresses Edition

Summer Style: Dresses Edition by mollyzcruggs featuring forever 21

Hi All! And welcome to Molly Bird's Summer Style Series!

My first post will be all about my FAVORITE! SUMMER DRESSES! YAY! Here are some of my favorite ones from this season, most found from Forever 21, but some from Nasty Gal and Motel Rocks! I am finding that I am very attracted to Hawaiian, Flowers (Specifically Daisies) and Burnout Jersey material. I thought the Maxi Dress was PERFECT for a late night out, showing off your..BEST assests. A little Jean Dress is perfect for a ball game or a day at the fair, but all of these dresses are perfect for going out and having fun doing ANYTHING! Add a little jean jacket for cool nights and you're set! Stay tuned for a peek inside my closet with some of my favorite summer dresses!

Back in Black (because I wear a lot of black, go with it)

by Molly Scruggs on Thursday, January 31, 2013

I feel like I always do this. I go away for a while, some times are longer than others. This time it was months..like 5+ months...GUYS! I can't be doing this! I've been reading Rosie's blog religiously and just thinking to myself..why haven't I freakin updated mine like EVER?!

Here are a few random updates:

  • Since I last talked to you in May, I've moved from Denton, Texas to Denver, Colorado.
  • I got a glamorous job in Insurance (NOT at a fancy schmancy Magazine like I thought I wanted, more on that later)
  • I've been through a few boys already and I haven't even lived here for 4 months...NOT more on that later ;)
  • I'm now a red head
  • I'm having the time of my life!
To be honest, I think one of the best decisions I've made is moving back home with my parents and to a completely different state. I'm near my sister, so opposed to having to drive 12 hours to see her, I know only have to drive 1! It's refreshing to know that you know ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, and being the new girl in town definitely has its perks! I've already met some amazing people and I can't wait to get on with that fun, Coloradan lifestyle! Speaking of, I also thought--hey! Why don't I blog about it? So, in the coming weeks and I suppose from now on, I'm going to try my hardest to keep everyone up to date with my adventures--fashion, food, and FUN! I don't have a fancy life, but I try to keep it interesting, and facebook is just too drab for me! For my first post back in the Blogosphere, I thought I'd show you a few things I've been up to! (Complete with Locations)

When I totally Graduated College. When I posted this on Facebook my friend thought I went to school in Hawaii. OH how I wish. I just got a lei from my mom, because nothing says "I GRADUATED" like a traditional Hawaiian Lei. (Denton, TX)

When I first moved to Colorado and subsequently found and went crazy in a sunflower patch. Photo Op anyone? (Parker, CO)

When I wore a bright orange shirt and posed in front of a mountain with my sister. Looking back now I realize just how bright that shirt was. (Estes Park, CO)

When Madi and I went to the coolest concert, 2 Door Cinema Club, and I got super drunk on overpriced Beer. (Downtown Denver)

When Madi and I dressed up in Southern Belle Zombie garb for the Zombie Crawl. (Fort Collins, Colorado)

When I found my favorite hiking spot, Horsetooth Mountain. (Fort Collins, CO)

When my favorite co-worker and I got free tickets for a Nuggets game from the owner of our Company. PERKZ

When we had a postcard-like view at Jeju Sushi. (Fort Collins, CO)

When my sister and I were domestic goddesses after Thanksgiving dinner! (At home in Parker, CO)

When my sister got me the World's Coolest Coffee Cup for my birthday. (At home in Parker, CO)

When I was a neon pinksicle in the mountains for my Birthday weekend. (Breckenridge, CO)

When Scarlett (The world's cutest pup) got a new sweater for Christmas.

When things got a little TOO crazy at the After Christmas Work Party. (Denver, CO)

When things got a little less crazy at Christmas Dinner. (At home in Parker, CO)

Christmas goodies. (At home in Parker, CO)

Christmas Crazies.

When I had my second ever White Christmas and then got to go SLEDDING. (At home in Parker, CO)

When things get wild at the Bar after work. (Denver, CO)

When I TOTALLY pull off bright red jeans with a selfie in the Urban Outfitters Dressing room. (Dallas, TX)

When things get picturesque hiking at Horsetooth. (Fort Collins, CO)

So far, that's been my life for the past few months. I've had some ups and downs, but mostly up! I've learned a lot about myself and I'm so excited to see what's going to happen next. Thankfully, I can blog about it! Until next time, folks..

Polka Dots, Chucks, and Bakery sadness

by Miss Style on Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Dress: Forever 21
Bag: Forever 21
Tea stained Hi Top Chuck Taylors
Makeup: Sephora liquid eyeliner for the cat-eye, and Naked Eye Palette for eye shadow
Hair: Done with a blow dryer and velcro rollers

Whilst visiting with family in the lovely town of Parker, Colorado, my sister and I decided to escape the drabness of moving my parents into their new house to Fort Collins. A quiet little college town, FoCo, so affectionately nicknamed by the natives, boasts many trivial pleasures. We dined on homemade tortillas and queso that was a bit reminiscent of popcorn (in a not so endearing way), then hit up a local Coffee shop for Italian Cream sodas. After our bellies were almost satisfied, we were disappointed to find The Worlds' Smallest Bakery (la Creperie & Bakery) to be closed on Mondays. We were denied sweet cravings such as Macarons and Crepes. In the midst of our sadness, we found a high class bakery that offered a small variety of cupcakes, and decided to settle. Blueberry lemon for me and Red Velvet for Madi. Worth $6.25? Maybe. I'm still mad about the bakery. At least I looked cute though! See the story in an Instagram adventure below.

Cafe MexiCali, Fort Collins, CO. Foodgasm, Popcorn queso (they didn't plan it that way, it just tasted like it)

Peach Italian Cream Soda, Average Joes, Fort Collins, CO

Buttercream Bakery, Fort Collins, Co

We stopped off at the CSU Oval (Where Madi goes to school) for lounging and silly pictures.

A lovely way to end the day.

That one time when I agreed to be a Model..

by Miss Style on Friday, April 6, 2012

So I got a text from my friend (who I hadn't heard from in FOREVER) the other day. "Molly, what are you doing tomorrow?!" Ummm I don't have plans but I'm pretty sure my schedule revolves around the new Toddlers and Tiaras I have recorded in my DVR. Instead I said: "Nothing! What's up" The truth was too sad. "You're going to be my model tomorrow"

Oh. Okay. Funny joke. Except it wasn't a joke... I
ended up being a stylist/assistant/model/hair stylist from 630-Midnight, and I enjoyed EVERY minute of it. There wasn't really a theme-- the stylist, Calli, basically took over and made everything as fierce as could be. The photographer, Jelisa, being a badass that she was, snook us all up to the rooftop of a parking garage to shoot. We almost got caught twice, but we looked too professional to scold, so the security officers went their way. It turned out breathtakingly amazing. Here are a few photos behind the scenes of the shoot!

I mean, I won't pretend to be this world class model, but it was SO much fun playing dress up and making funny faces whilst wearing John Lennon specs. I can't wait to see the actual photos! It's for a University magazine called "Method 7 Magazine", here is where you can like them on facebook and patiently await the first issue, which I'll hopefully be in!

Coachella Style

by Miss Style

So, Coachella music festival in California is coming up, and although we can't ALL go out in our printed jumpsuits (Ahem Dita Von Teese) and see lots of good music amongst a sea of celebatrons, we CAN pretend. I mean, it's called itunes and supplement speakers, folks. For those of us that can actually make it to this year's music fest, here are some inspired looks for you to try.

Pack your backpack and get ready to not shower for a few days, Coachella here we come! Yellow top by Jason Wu and Pink top by Electric Frenchie. See remaining items on my Polyvore. These outfits are easy, breezy, beautiful and super stylish to impress all of those glamourous celebs!
Or maybe you're more like me and you'd rather have on an easy but super cute dress to dance around in. Both dresses are from Electric Frenchie. Click the link to my polyvore above to see complete item descriptions.  It doesn't matter what you choose to wear, just promise me if you see Ryan Gosling tell him his soul mate exists and her name is Molly. Ahem.

Product Review: Wet N Wild Blue Mega Liner

by Miss Style on Sunday, March 18, 2012

So let me preface this by saying I went to the Sushi Cafe the other day with my sissy bear, who was in town for the week. We went to this hole in the wall sushi place (it's my fave in the world and I needed her to experience it) and of course, everything was particularly amazing. My drink of choice, a Mai Tai (I'm a girl okay?) was the best I ever had. Not quoting Drake. Just saying. Our waitress, who was in short, a bitch  in all senses of the word, had on blue liquid eyeliner. Now, she wasn't wearing punky clothes or anything out of the ordinary to suggest that she was the type of person to wear that kind of thing, but she worked it. I complimented her, saying I don't think I could ever pull that off, and she waved it off. It got me to thinking though...could I pull off BLUE EYELINER? The answer is YES

Now I didn't go as drastic as she did, but I'm hoping to go a little bit more out of my comfort zone and try it thicker ASAP. It's just too fun not to! And I've found that it compliments brown eyes! What kind of liquid eyeliner did I use, you ask? I surprisingly found that Wet n Wild's 2.99 Mega Liner did the job just perfectly! I'm enamored with it so much that I'm considering branching out into other colors! The liner was so easy to apply and the brush was thin enough to make a perfect cat eye!

I HIGHLY recommend this product! Go out and get you some!
