Hey ladies! So guess what's coming up...Valentimes! Yeah, cue the eye rolling and "pffft"'s. Once again, I will be single with millions of other women on this, holiest of days. I say, why not embrace our singleness? Okay well this post doesn't exactly CELEBRATE being single, but it helps those of us that may be trying to hook that one guy that won't stick...I'm not going to say that I'm going to give you the secret to getting the man of your dreams, but this sure as hell will help! In short, I've been reading fashion magazines up the wazoo, and I have a theory about what MOST guys want: Simple. They don't want you to look too made up, like you put so much effort into looking like a hot toddy, even though we still spend 2 hours picking out the perfect white T shirt. They don't need to know this.
Here is an example of what I'm talking about. I saw a poll in Glamour magazine recently that said guys like girls best in just a White V neck, nice fitting jeans, and black pumps. Easy enough right? Don't go crazy, because you want to look like you're not putting in to much effort to look a certain way--put that extra effort into making a good impression!
Okay so your outfit is done, but what about makeup? How do we impress the guys that apparently say we look better without makeup? I think what they mean by "no makeup" is, you just got out of bed looking completely fresh faced and flushed with the teensiest bit of dark rimmed lashes. Hey, I'm trying to please both parties here.
This is a simple look, not using too much makeup that enhances the eyes for that "Vampy Valentines" face we're going for.
The products I used so you can follow along are:
Covergirl ageless foundation Mary Kay Powder Foundation Covergirl Concealer
Sephora 48 Color Blockbuster, I use this for blush and I also used the Black Kohl pencil it came with.
Maybelline Black Gel Liner Naked Palette from Ubran Decay, I used black color
NYC Lip Stain in Champagne Stain
In this case, Hair is a cinch. I suggest going back to the basics. When it comes to men, they're not hard to figure out. Everything is "less is more", so in the case of hair, I'd suggest looking to someone like the lovely Brigitte Bardot for inspiration..let's just say, BIG and SEXY. Let's not overdo it on the hairspray though, ladies.
Bardot always looked like she had the effortless look down PAT. Bridgey, TEACH US.
Here are two ladies that really wore the effortless look well. What I'd say you should use in this situation is a 1'' to 1.25 '' curling iron, some tousle spray (such as Herbal Essences Tousle me softly, see THIS post for a reference) or Bumble and Bumble Sea Spray to finish the look off. All you need to do is wrap about 1 inch sections of hair around your curling iron, doing this over your whole head. We want bigger curls so they look more natural. Don't put product in your hair before because we're putting spray in to set it. Once you've done your whole head, shake all of the curls out and go through them with your fingers. If they look too curled, you can brush them out with a comb. After you've sha-sha-shaken it, go ahead and spray your Tousle spray et voila! Tu es fini! (You're finished, for those who don't speak francaise) You can make it more Bardot-y and secure in a half pony with a few bobby pins in the back, or just let it flow free baby!
I hope everyone has a terrific Valentines and your man is completely in awe of you! You better get at least some chocolates out of this...or maybe..you know some..woopie. Yes I speak Sims. I am clearly single.
